View from a bridge...

Today is the first day of a week long trip that I am taking with my oldest daughter in the Southwestern part of the United States. We grabbed a 5:30 am flight to Albuquerque, New Mexico and then drove up to Sante Fe for lunch and gelato. After a short walk by the famous Sante Fe Plaza, we jumped in the car and made our way up to Taos, a 90 minute drive away. In the distance we could see a thunderstorm flashing lightening on the mountains above Taos and I tried to find a good spot to film the light hitting the mountain below the storm. Following a road out of town and up into the mountains, we came upon the Taos Puebla, which I quickly found out didn't allow photography. I asked the security guard where was a good place to film landscapes and he gave us directions to the Rio Grande Gorge. The view didn't disappoint and we ran onto the bridge which provided a stunning view from 565 feet above the Rio Grande River. Using a Panasonic GH4 and at 12-35mm lens, I grabbed a few shots trying to balance the sky with the incredible view of the gorge. My daughter is using my Canon 5D Mark II for the first time and I can't wait to see how her pictures came out.

Bloom

Nothing is more beautiful than a simple flower picture. I really like it when I can find a background that provides a contrasting color to that of the flower. After parking our car near the Gorge Bridge, we spotted this group of flowers blowing in the wind, and snapped a few shots before making our way onto the bridge. This was shot with a Panasonic GH4 with a 12-35mm lens.
